SATIM and IMSAR Partner to Bring Automated Object Detection and Classification to UAV-based SAR

SATIM's OREC analytical layer now supports UAV-based SAR imagery, extending automated intelligence from satellite to aerial sensors

Aurora, Colorado — May 4, 2026 — SATIM, a provider of AI-driven SAR intelligence, and IMSAR, a manufacturer of lightweight Synthetic Aperture Radar systems for manned and unmanned platforms, today announced a partnership to deliver automated object detection and classification on IMSAR's SAR sensors. Enabled by the partnership, SATIM's OREC analytical layer will process imagery from IMSAR's radar systems, giving operators machine-readable intelligence directly from UAV-collected SAR data.

OREC is SATIM's data-agnostic AI for object detection and classification on SAR imagery. It works across sensors, resolutions, and data providers. Until now, OREC has been extensively trained and validated on satellite SAR data from multiple commercial and sovereign constellations. Following an initial round of testing with IMSAR's sensors, SATIM can confirm that OREC also supports UAV-based SAR imagery — marking the product's first confirmed extension from space-based to aerial platforms.

"Our goal is for OREC to be the default analytical layer for SAR-based ISR, regardless of the sensor collecting the data," said Jacek Strzelczyk, CEO at SATIM. "Confirming compatibility with IMSAR's systems is a concrete step towards that. Operators running multi-sensor architectures can now run the same detection and classification pipeline across them, with consistent outputs that feed directly into their C2 and intelligence workflows."

"OREC was built to be sensor-agnostic, and these initial tests validated that in practice," said Stanisława Porzycka-Strzelczyk, CTO at SATIM. "The architecture we developed for satellite SAR transferred to UAV-based imagery with strong results out of the box. The differences in resolution, incidence angle, and collection geometry between spaceborne and UAV-based SAR are significant — the fact that OREC handled them without requiring a full retraining cycle confirms that our approach to generalization works. We will continue refining accuracy on such data, but the foundation is proven."

"Our customers invest in SAR because they need persistent situational awareness in conditions where other sensors fall short," said Larry Moore, President at IMSAR. "Pairing our radar systems with OREC's automated detection and classification means operators can act on what the sensor collects faster. That closes the loop between collection and decision, which is where the operational value is." SATIM plans to further refine its models to raise detection and classification accuracy on UAV-based SAR data as the partnership progresses. The companies intend to conduct additional validation across ImSAR's product range.

About SATIM

SATIM transforms SAR imagery into operational intelligence. The company's product, OREC, is a sensor-agnostic AI analytical layer that detects and classifies objects across SAR data from any platform — commercial satellites, sovereign sensors, airborne, and UAV. OREC delivers machine-readable structured outputs that integrate directly into C2 systems, GEOINT fusion pipelines, and multi-INT workflows. Deployable in cloud, on-premise, air-gapped, and edge environments, OREC is built for organizations that need reliable, automated intelligence from radar-based sensors at operational tempo.

About IMSAR

IMSAR LLC, based in Springville, Utah, has designed, manufactured, and supported lightweight Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Moving Target Indicator (MTI) systems for defense and commercial customers worldwide since 2004. Developing advanced, low-SWaP radar systems designed for high-performance sensing and imaging, IMSAR is "Democratizing Radar" by making this technology usable, affordable, and available for tactical platforms worldwide. The company's product line delivers multi-mode radar capability to UAVs, drones, and high-altitude platforms. IMSAR's systems have been integrated on and supported hundreds of platforms globally.
